West Rim Texas Canyon

Description: The West Rim Texas Canyon Trail #003 is 7.8 miles long. It begins at Forest Road #347 and ends on BLM land at Arch Canyon Road. This trail drops significantly in the 1st mile of the trail beginning at the northwest trailhead off of Forest Road #347. It then gradually descends along an open (hot in summer) bench above Texas Canyon with beautiful views into the canyon before descending to Arch Canyon Road.

This trail crosses the USFS boundary and onto BLM land. Access to the southeast end of the trail is via BLM land.

Trail conditions vary widely with weather events and during spring runoff. Check with the Monticello Ranger District for updated information.

Difficulty Level: Elevation change is ~1600ft.

Usage: Light


Open to: Hiking and Horseback Riding.

Water: Users should carry their own water.

Restroom: There is no restroom available.

Directions: From Blanding, head south on US-191 S/S Main St and travel 3.9 miles. Turn right onto UT-95 N and travel 30.2 miles. Turn right onto UT-275 N/Natural Bridge and travel 0.7 miles. Take the 1st right onto Elk Mountain (Elk Ridge Road #50088) and travel 8.4 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road #55347 and travel 0.8 miles to West Rim Texas Canyon Trail #5003.
